Miedema and Foord on Target as Arsenal Dominate Liverpool in Jonas

Vivianne Miedema scored her first Women's Super League goal since returning from a long-term knee injury as Arsenal eased to a 2-0 victory over Liverpool at Jonas.

Caitlin Foord also netted as the Gunners made it two wins from two in the WSL this season.

Arsenal were in control from the start and took the lead in the 15th minute when Miedema headed home from close range after good work from Foord. The visitors doubled their advantage just before half-time when Foord fired in from the edge of the area.

Liverpool improved after the break but could not find a way past Arsenal's resolute defence. The Gunners held on to secure a comfortable victory and move up to second in the WSL table.

Manager Jonas Eidevall was pleased with his team's performance.

"I thought we played very well today," he said. "We were in control of the game from the start and created a lot of chances. We could have scored more goals but I'm happy with the win."He added: "It was great to see Vivianne score her first goal back. She's a world-class player and she's going to be very important for us this season."

Liverpool manager Matt Beard was disappointed with his team's performance.

"We didn't start the game well enough and we were punished by Arsenal," he said. "We improved in the second half but we couldn't find a way to get back into the game. We need to be better in our next match."

Arsenal will host Tottenham Hotspur in their next WSL match on Sunday, September 18. Liverpool will travel to Manchester United on the same day.
