The Banco de la República de Colombia has released a new 10000 peso bill, offering enhanced security features to combat counterfeiting. Here are five steps to help identify the genuine bill:

1. Watermark: Look for the watermark of a jaguar's head on the right side.
2. Security Thread: Run your finger along the holographic security thread with the text "BC".
3. Raised Ink: Touch the vertical lines on the left and right of the bill; they should feel slightly raised.
4. Fluorescent Ink: Shine a UV light on the bill to reveal fluorescent designs, including the jaguar's head and the denomination.
5. Color Change: Tilt the bill from side to side to observe a color shift from gold to green on the denomination numeral.

The new 10000 peso bill has entered circulation as of December 7th, 2016, and will coexist with the old bills for a transition period.
